German eMobility entrepreneur Günther Schuh is preparing to unveil his third electric vehicle project, the StreetRunner UpVan, on June 24 in Düren, near Cologne. This new electric light commercial vehicle marks a return to the segment Schuh first explored with the original StreetScooter, and comes after his more recent foray into compact electric cars with e.Go Mobile.
The UpVan is being marketed as a fully electric, modular delivery vehicle optimised for last-mile logistics. Built on the ‘UP Super Board’ platform by China’s U Power Tech, the UpVan will be adapted for the German market by StreetRunner GmbH. “Especially for companies focused on sustainable and efficient urban delivery concepts, the highly economical UpVan offers a forward-looking solution for their fleet,” Schuh said ahead of the launch.
Unlike the StreetScooter, which was developed in-house, StreetRunner is leveraging existing Chinese EV technology for faster market entry and lower costs. The UpVan will be available in two battery options—42 or 54 kWh—both based on LFP cell chemistry, with an estimated city driving range of up to 387 kilometres. The front-wheel-drive van delivers 110 kW of power and 220 Nm of torque.
With cargo volumes ranging from 7.6 to 10 cubic metres and payloads of up to 1.6 tonnes, the UpVan is expected to compete in a segment now crowded with electric vans from Ford, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and others. Pricing and detailed specifications will be revealed during the June 24 premiere.
