Green Xentro, a subsidiary of Xentro Group of Companies, plans to expand its electric taxi fleet to 2,500 units under its partnership with Green GSM, marking one of the largest EV taxi initiatives in the Philippines.
The company has already deployed its first batch of vehicles in Rizal Province and aims to extend operations to Metro Manila and surrounding areas in the next phase.
Under the agreement, Green GSM is supplying electric vehicles from VinFast and providing the ride-hailing platform, while Green Xentro manages local operations, including driver oversight and service execution. The partnership initially involved a memorandum of understanding signed in October 2025 for 2,000 vehicles, which has now been expanded.
The deployed taxis are based on the Nerio Green, an adapted version of the VinFast VF e34. The model is equipped with a 110 kW front-mounted motor, 242 Nm of torque, and a 41.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a range of approximately 318.6 kilometres under the NEDC cycle.
All vehicles in the fleet will feature safety and monitoring systems including GPS tracking, CCTV, dashcams and emergency panic buttons, supported by 24/7 oversight from a dedicated control centre.
“We see this as a long-term investment in building a transport system that is more reliable, more structured, and better aligned with the needs of Filipino communities,” said Noel M. Ignacio, Chief Executive Officer of Green Xentro.
Green GSM said the initiative is part of a broader strategy to scale electric mobility through local partnerships. “This is not just a fleet deployment. It represents the early stage of a scalable model where strong local partners lead market execution, while Green GSM enables growth through a unified electric mobility platform,” said Dao Quy Phi.
While Green GSM had previously committed to supplying 2,000 units of the Nerio Green within two years, details regarding the additional 500 vehicles—including model selection and delivery timelines—have not been disclosed.
The expansion highlights growing momentum for electrified public transport solutions in Southeast Asia, as operators seek to modernise urban mobility systems and reduce emissions.
