Grab Vietnam and regional charging operator Charge+ said they have signed a partnership to develop an electric vehicle charging and battery swapping network in Vietnam, targeting electric cars, motorcycles and e-scooters as the country pushes toward net-zero emissions.

The collaboration will combine Grab’s ride-hailing platform, data capabilities and local market reach with Charge+’s experience in deploying charging infrastructure across Southeast Asia, the companies said. The partners aim to address gaps in charging availability while supporting Grab’s driver-partners and broader EV adoption.

Under the agreement, the two companies will work on technical and operational integration, including application programming interface (API) links that allow Charge+ charging locations, transactions and real-time data to be accessed directly through the Grab platform. Grab said this would help drivers locate charging and battery swapping services during daily operations.

The rollout will prioritise sites with the highest demand, using Grab’s travel pattern data to guide placement and ensure dense coverage. The partnership also includes preferential charging policies for Grab driver-partners, reflecting the need for fast charging and high utilisation in ride-hailing operations.

“Grab fully supports Vietnam’s green transition directives and is continuously stepping up collaboration with relevant partners to address the challenges of this transition,” said Ma Tuan Trong, chief executive of Grab Vietnam. “We are delighted to further expand our partner portfolio in the EV ecosystem through this agreement with Charge+.”

Charge+ said the partnership aligns with its longer-term plans in Vietnam. “We are committed to rolling out an extensive charging network in Vietnam to reach 5,000 charging points by 2030,” said Goh Chee Kiong, chief executive of Charge+.
