Payment solutions provider GLS Mobility has joined forces with Gireve’s roaming platform to broaden the reach of its cloud-based direct payment system, aiming to simplify transactions at electric vehicle charging stations without requiring extensive hardware upgrades.
The GLS Mobility solution enables charge point operators (CPOs) to offer direct payments via a central terminal at charging locations, supporting credit and debit cards, girocards, and mobile payment services such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

While some additional hardware is necessary, the system reduces the need for individual card terminals at every charger. Currently available in Germany and Switzerland under the name Pay-t, the service is expanding into the Benelux region through partner Payworld.
By integrating with Gireve’s platform, which connects more than 570,000 charging points across 32 countries, GLS Mobility aims to significantly extend its user base. The existing interface between the two companies facilitates seamless adoption at new and existing charging locations. Additionally, the payment system operates independently of charging hardware and complies with the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), which mandates direct payment options at newly installed charging stations.
