In a latest promotional video, General Motors (GM) proudly presents its debutant, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV). This innovative offering merges instantaneous torque, a discreet demeanour, and impressive performance, aligning perfectly with the demands of law enforcement agencies.

The Chevrolet Blazer, arguably GM’s most renowned SUV nameplate, is stepping into the electric era. After providing a glimpse of the electric SUV at CES 2022, GM officially introduced the Chevy Blazer EV in July last year.

However, despite sharing GM’s updated design philosophy with its petrol counterpart, the electric Blazer diverges significantly from the traditional path.

Built on the Ultium platform, GM has elevated the Blazer’s appeal by integrating modern design elements, enhanced performance, and cutting-edge technology. The automaker initially announced four trims for the Blazer EV: 1LT, 2LT, SS, and RS versions, along with a dedicated Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) edition.

The curtain was lifted on the Chevy Blazer EV PPV during the model’s launch event in July, offering a glimpse of the police-rated EV. GM confirmed that this version would be modelled after the high-performance “SS” variant, incorporating the largest Ultium battery in its lineup.

On Monday, GM’s fleet management division, known as “GM Envolve,” unveiled a new video that provides a closer look at what the Police-rated Blazer EV brings to the table.

The Chevy Blazer EV PPV is equipped with an array of law enforcement-specific features, including a certified speedometer, robust suspension, underbody skid plates, and sturdy 20-inch steel wheels.

With a commanding 400V all-wheel-drive system, the electric Blazer boasts an impressive output of up to 498 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of instantaneous torque. Leveraging the Ultium platform, the vehicle achieves an optimised weight distribution and a low centre of gravity, ensuring nimble handling that meets the demands of police duty.

Driving efficiency is further emphasised by the electric Blazer PPV’s 105 kWh battery, which offers an estimated GM range of 250 miles, even with traditional emergency equipment in place.

Incorporating features tailored to streamline law enforcement operations, Chevrolet has introduced amenities such as keyless entry and contactless ignition. Once the vehicle detects the key fob, it seamlessly ignites. On the other hand, if the key fob is removed, the Blazer transitions into a “Protected Idle” mode, enabling the car to be powered and unlocked for swift response.

With the convenience of 400V DC fast charging, the Blazer EV PPV can rapidly accumulate up to 71 miles of range within 10 minutes or approximately 141 miles in just 30 minutes.
