General Motors has officially launched the 2026 Chevy Captiva EV in Brazil, four months after the model’s regional debut.
The introduction marks a key step in Chevrolet’s strategy to expand its portfolio of affordable electric vehicles in South America, with Brazil positioned as the main volume market for the new crossover.
The automaker is offering the Captiva EV exclusively in its Premier trim at launch, featuring a darkened exterior package with gloss black accents and a black bowtie emblem.
The model arrives with a comprehensive suite of standard safety and connectivity features, including the Chevrolet Intelligent Driving advanced driver assistance package. GM said the Captiva EV completes its electric SUV lineup in the country as the brand strengthens its electrification position in the region.
The Captiva EV is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor producing 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque. Its 60 kWh battery delivers a range of 304 km under the INMETRO cycle and up to 510 km under the CLTC standard. The vehicle offers seating for five and is aimed at customers seeking a spacious EV at a competitive price point.
Initial units are being imported from China, with local assembly set to begin in 2026. The model is offered in four exterior colours and two interior combinations. GM provides a 3-year or 100,000-km vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 160,000-km battery warranty. The 2026 Captiva EV Premier is priced at 199,990 reais, equivalent to about US$37,550.
