Aerofugia Technology, Geely’s electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) unit, has rolled out its first AE200-100 aircraft, marking what the company called China’s first passenger eVTOL prototype.
The aircraft completed major airframe assembly and onboard system installation at the firm’s Chengdu headquarters on Sept. 26, moving closer to requirements for manned test flights.

Aerofugia said it has entered the airworthiness certification and pre-production phase and will undergo thousands of verification tasks before receiving type certification.
The AE200-100 is designed with a 200-kilometre range for cross-city travel, airport transfers, sightseeing, and emergency response. Aerofugia said the battery-powered aircraft has lower operating costs than comparable helicopters and has already received more than 1,000 commercial orders from regions including Sichuan, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei.

Aerofugia’s Chengdu headquarters is under construction, with production expected to begin in 2026. The facility will combine research, manufacturing, testing, and delivery operations to support the AE200 and future models.
Founded in 2020, the company specialises in low-altitude mobility and earlier this year completed a maiden flight with its AE200 verification aircraft.
