Fiat has delayed customer deliveries of its Grande Panda model in the UK until March 2026, almost a year later than originally planned, citing stronger-than-expected demand for left-hand-drive versions in other markets.

The delay was first reported by British automotive magazine Autocar, which quoted a Fiat spokesperson as saying: “The Grande Panda is enjoying significant demand in the left-hand-drive markets where it has been launched to date, impacting the start of production for the right-hand drive-cars for the UK.”

The setback affects a model that was unveiled in July 2024 and opened for UK orders in September. The Grande Panda is offered in Britain as both a battery-electric vehicle and a mild hybrid, with prices starting at £20,995 for the electric version and £18,995 for the hybrid. Fiat has not announced any changes to pricing or specifications as a result of the delay.

The electric Grande Panda is powered by a 44 kWh battery and an 83-kilowatt motor, offering a claimed range of up to 199 miles. The hybrid variant combines a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a 21 kW electric motor. Built on Stellantis’ CMP Smart Car platform, the model measures 3.99 metres in length and offers seating for up to five passengers with a boot capacity of 361 litres.

The delay contrasts with the rollout of the closely related Citroën C3, which arrived in the UK on schedule, with production ramped up beyond initial plans. Fiat has already adjusted the Grande Panda’s UK trim strategy, replacing the entry-level “Red” version with a new “Pop” trim as it manages supply constraints.
