Stellantis has begun production of the Fiat 500 Hybrid at its historic Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy, as the group moves to expand its hybrid lineup and reinforce manufacturing activity at the site.

The automaker is targeting output of more than 6,000 vehicles by the end of 2025, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin in January 2026. Orders for the new model opened on Nov. 21, with showroom launch events held at Italian dealerships shortly afterward.

To support higher volumes, Stellantis plans to introduce a second production shift at Mirafiori from March 2026, alongside the recruitment of around 400 additional workers. The 500 Hybrid will be built in the site’s historic Carrozzerie plant and will be offered in three body styles — Hatchback, 3+1 and Cabrio — across POP, ICON and LA PRIMA trim levels. A special “TORINO” series will also be available as a tribute to the vehicle’s home city.

Alongside the production launch, Stellantis formally started renovation work on the Mirafiori Office Building, a 61,000-square-metre redevelopment project scheduled for completion in 2027. The refurbishment includes restoration of a 200-metre stone façade, installation of 1,670 new windows and upgrades aimed at achieving a positive annual energy balance through photovoltaic panels and centralized energy management. The project forms part of Stellantis’ broader grEEn campus program in Europe.

Stellantis Chairman John Elkann described the dual announcements as a sign of renewed momentum for Turin and Mirafiori, while Chief Executive Antonio Filosa said the start of 500 Hybrid production demonstrates the group’s ongoing commitment to Italy’s industrial base. The launch event on Nov. 25 was attended by about 200 guests, including Italian Minister of Enterprise Adolfo Urso, Piedmont Region President Alberto Cirio and Turin Mayor Stefano Lo Russo.
