This is Ferrari’s 986 horsepower hybrid supercar called the SF90 Stradale. It sits above the 812 Superfast in the Ferrari range and is a series-production car meaning no limited editions or exclusive invitations. If you can stump up the big price tag, this Ferrari can be yours.
Much like the LaFerrari before it, the SF90 Stradale uses a hybrid powertrain. This time a 4.0L twin turbocharged V8 has been paired up with 3 electric motors. The first of those motors has been sandwiched between the engine and the transmission, whilst the other 2 have been placed on the front axle powering a wheel each. They are all fed by a compact 7.9 kWh lithium ion battery pack, and produce a combined 220 PS (162 kW) of power. The all-electric range is a rather limited 25 kilometers, but those buying the SF90 will not be interested in that, they will want to experience the screaming Ferrrari V8. However, it is a testament to the companies progression to an electric future.
Four driving modes are available with eDrive, Hybrid, Performance and Qualifying making up the list. eDrive is as it sounds, providing silent pure electric operation. The rest of the modes amp up the aggressiveness of the car with the full-on Qualifying mode unleashing the combined power of all the motors. In this configuration 0-60 mph is done and dusted in just 2.1 seconds, and has a top speed of 211 MPH.
