Fastned has opened its first two high-power charging stations in Spain, marking its entry into the country and expansion into its ninth European market. The Dutch charging network operator inaugurated two sites at the Garraf Nord and Garraf Sud service areas in the province of Barcelona, each featuring four chargers with a total of eight charging points capable of delivering up to 400 kW.
The installations were developed in partnership with Spanish road operator Autopistas as part of a joint effort “to develop high-quality charging infrastructure on Autopistas highways,” the companies said. Fastned’s arrival in Spain forms part of its broader strategy to strengthen its pan-European network and support the growing adoption of electric vehicles across the continent.

“Our mission in Spain is clear, as in the other countries where we operate: to accelerate the transition to ultra-rapid, high-quality electric mobility accessible to all,” said Inma Cima, Fastned Spain Country Manager. “These two charging stations represent a strong first step in our ambitious expansion plan. Our goal is to provide Spain with a solid and reliable charging network, thus leading the drive for electric vehicles and promoting a cleaner and more efficient energy future for the country.”
The two new sites are part of Fastned’s long-term commitment to deploy 1,000 fast charging stations across Europe by 2030. The company has already begun work on 13 additional locations in Spain, reinforcing its investment in expanding access to high-power charging along key routes.

Michiel Langezaal, Co-founder and CEO of Fastned, said the move underscores the company’s growth strategy across Europe. “Our arrival in Spain marks a milestone in Fastned’s mission to drive the transition to electric mobility across Europe and shows how we’re investing in growth,” he said.
Fastned’s expansion into Spain follows earlier market entries in countries including Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, as it continues to scale up its network to meet rising demand for fast, reliable, and renewable-powered EV charging infrastructure.
