Buick’s foray into the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) segment takes a bold step forward with the Electra L7, a premium sedan under the automaker’s new Electra sub-brand in China.
Designed as part of SAIC-GM’s strategy to sell only new energy vehicles (NEVs) in the Chinese market from 2025, the L7 combines long-range capabilities, robust powertrain features, and next-generation technologies.
At a starting price expected around 300,000 yuan (approximately $41,800), the Electra L7 directly targets competitors like the Stelato S9 EREV.

At the heart of the Electra L7’s EREV setup is a 1.5T LD3 gasoline engine, delivering 115 kW (154 hp) and 230 Nm of torque. This is paired with a front 122 kW (164 hp) electric motor and a rear 252 kW (338 hp) motor, working together to provide all-wheel drive performance.
The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h. It’s powered by a 40.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, enabling 302 km of pure electric range, while the comprehensive driving range reaches an impressive 1,400 km. The L7 also boasts ultra-low fuel consumption, rated at 0.5 liters per 100 km.
Built on Buick’s new Xiaoyao architecture, which supports multiple body styles and drivetrain layouts, the Electra L7 features generous dimensions—5032 mm long, 1952 mm wide, and 1500 mm high, with a 3000 mm wheelbase. The curb weight ranges from 2,105 kg to 2,140 kg depending on the trim level. Styling cues include a fastback silhouette, hidden door handles, chrome window frames, through-type taillights, and 235/50 R19 tires.

Inside, it debuts the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8775P smart cockpit chip, making it the first mass-produced vehicle to feature this advanced processor. Driver assistance is supported by roof-mounted lidar, four ultrasonic sensors, and the Momenta Level 2 advanced driving system.
Further enhancing its practicality, the Electra L7 is equipped with 6C ultra-fast charging and a 900V high-voltage platform, allowing it to replenish 350 km of range in just 10 minutes. As Buick expands its electrified offerings in China, the Electra L7 represents a strategic blend of performance, innovation, and extended-range efficiency poised to appeal to a growing NEV market.
