U.S. electric vehicle startup Dacora Motors has revealed its first all-electric model, a retro-inspired luxury car that fuses 1930s Streamline Moderne aesthetics with modern electric performance. With a starting price of $500,000, the debut model could become one of the most expensive consumer EVs on the market.
Founded by MIT-trained engineers Kristie D’Ambrosio-Correll and Eric Corrèll, Dacora describes itself as the first female-founded and led automaker in history. The company is also positioning its new car as the first ultra-luxury EV to be both designed and manufactured in the United States in nearly a century.

The vehicle—currently unnamed—was created in collaboration with Italy’s Pininfarina Group and features design cues reminiscent of vintage Americana, evoking imagery from The Great Gatsby and classic board games.
Although technical specifications remain limited, Dacora says the vehicle will deliver over 400 miles of range and more than 800 horsepower. The interior emphasizes artisanal craftsmanship and material quality, with no plastic components.
Instead, the cabin incorporates hardwoods, woven wool, and hand-stitched leather, complemented by tactile mechanical controls and a semi-transparent non-touchscreen display.

“At Dacora, we believe true luxury is about connection – between driver and machine, tradition and technology, form and function,” said CEO D’Ambrosio-Correll. “We set out to build a car that doesn’t compromise between beauty, power, and personalization.”
Customization is a central focus of Dacora’s approach. Interiors are modular and seasonally reconfigurable, offering swappable upholstery, seating for three to seven passengers, and even customizable wood options.

Each vehicle will be hand-built at the company’s upcoming Hudson Valley facility, a 100-acre “automotive campus” slated to open in 2026. While Dacora has not announced delivery timelines, it reports that reservations already exceed 150% of its initial production capacity.
