Epicland has launched the X9 as its first production model, marking the debut of the joint automotive brand established by Dongfeng Motor and Huawei.
The large six-seat extended-range electric SUV is available at limited-time discounted prices ranging from 279,800 yuan ($41,460) to 359,800 yuan, compared with regular prices of 289,800 yuan to 369,800 yuan. Epicland positions the X9 as a “second-generation family flagship,” targeting models including the Aito M9 and Li Auto’s Li L9.
X9 Offers Up to 1,410 Km Combined Range
Pre-sales for the Epicland X9 began on August 18 with a starting price of 299,800 yuan. Epicland previously said the model received more than 20,000 orders within its first 24 hours of pre-sales.
The SUV measures 5,301 mm in length, 2,015 mm in width and 1,820 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,120 mm. It provides 484 liters of cargo capacity when all six seats are occupied.
The X9 is built on an 800-volt electrical architecture and can charge from 20% to 80% in 18 minutes.
Two battery capacities are available, at 74.29 kWh and 51.46 kWh. Depending on configuration, the SUV offers up to 465 km of CLTC battery-only range.
With a full fuel tank and fully charged battery, the X9 has a combined range of up to 1,410 km under the CLTC testing cycle. Under the WLTC cycle, the maximum combined range is 1,120 km.
Extended-Range Powertrain With Up to 450 kW
The X9 uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender with a maximum output of 95 kW.
The two-wheel-drive version uses a 300 kW (402 hp) electric motor. All-wheel-drive variants offer combined motor outputs of either 350 kW or 450 kW.
The highest-specification version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.81 seconds.
Huawei Driver Assistance and LiDAR
Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 driver assistance system is standard across the X9 lineup.
The system is paired with an 896-channel, dual-optical-path imaging-grade LiDAR. The highest-specification version adds three additional high-precision solid-state LiDAR sensors, bringing the total to four.
The X9 also uses Huawei’s HarmonySpace 6 cockpit system, which features two adjoining 17.2-inch 3.4K displays.
Air Suspension and Rear-Wheel Steering
The X9’s chassis is based on Huawei’s Qiankun Chitu platform and incorporates dual-chamber air suspension and electronically controlled dampers.
Rear-wheel steering helps reduce the SUV’s minimum turning radius to 5.3 meters, providing additional maneuverability for the large three-row vehicle.
Epicland Plans 1,000-Volt Electric SUV
Epicland plans to expand its lineup beyond the X9 with a battery-electric SUV based on a 1,000-volt platform.
Pre-sales for the upcoming battery-electric model are scheduled to begin in November, with deliveries planned for December.
The X9 launch comes shortly after the debut of another Huawei-backed automotive brand. On September 23, Aistaland, a joint brand developed by Huawei and GAC Group, launched its second model, the GX7.
The closely timed launches highlight Huawei’s expansion into automotive development beyond the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA). Epicland and Aistaland were developed through Huawei’s Qiankun business in cooperation with local automakers and are separate from the Huawei-led HIMA alliance.
