ENVO Drive Systems, a Canadian light electric mobility company, has acquired MoonBikes, the French startup known for developing the world’s first ultralight electric snowbike. The move expands ENVO’s presence in the winter e-mobility sector and adds to its range of zero-emission vehicles designed for both recreational and commercial use.
MoonBikes, which launched in 2018 in the French Alps, offers compact, silent snowbikes that provide up to 40 miles of range and require minimal maintenance. With more than 1,200 units sold in 25 countries, the brand has built a following among riders, resorts, and fleet operators seeking sustainable alternatives to traditional snowmobiles. ENVO said its established research, engineering, and distribution network will support wider adoption of the vehicles.
Ali Kazemkhani, CEO of ENVO Drive Systems, said the acquisition aligns with the company’s broader strategy to address growing demand for affordable and sustainable transport. “We’ve built an ecosystem that unites micromobility and light EV solutions under one umbrella,” Kazemkhani said. He added that MoonBikes’ integration builds on ENVO’s earlier acquisition of Veemo, further strengthening its portfolio.
MoonBikes’ founder Nicolas Muron welcomed the deal, pointing to ENVO’s industrial capacity and service network. “ENVO’s industrial capacity and service network will help MoonBikes carve deeper tracks in the snow,” Muron said. ENVO noted the vehicles are available for order globally, with options designed to support both individual customers and business operators.
