Volkswagen of America has released its 4th quarter and full-year 2022 sales numbers, revealing that 6.8% of its sales in the USA were electric vehicles (all ID.4 sales, as it is the only electric vehicle Volkswagen sells in the country).
In the 4th quarter, the Volkswagen ID.4 had a market share of 18.2%, with 4,055 sales, making it the second best selling model in the USA. Only the Tiguan had more sales, at 7,740 in the quarter.
The Volkswagen ID.4 had impressive year-over-year growth in the 4th quarter, with a 171.4% increase in sales. This growth was slightly higher than the Arteon’s 171.3% growth and just behind the Golf R’s 3,150% growth.
However, the Golf R’s growth was aided by a low base, going from only 2 sales in the 4th quarter of 2021 to 65 sales in the 4th quarter of 2022. In terms of full-year sales, the ID.4 saw a 22.5% increase, from 16,742 sales in 2021 to 20,511 sales in 2022.
The Taos had even higher growth, with 88.6% more sales in 2022 compared to 2021, and the Golf R saw a 5,451.9% increase in sales over the same period.
