In 2022, BYD achieved significant success in the new energy vehicle market in China, selling a total of 1,863,494 units. This included 946,239 plug-in hybrid “DM super hybrids” and 911,140 battery electric vehicles. One of the standout models in BYD’s battery electric vehicle lineup was the Atto 3, which was introduced in February of that year and saw 229,020 units sold by the end of the year.

According to BYD, the Atto 3 is a front-wheel drive, C-segment SUV that boasts a modern design and advanced technology. It is powered by innovative electric vehicle technology and features smart connectivity.

With dimensions of 4,455 mm in length and 2,050 mm width (including unfolded wing mirrors), the Atto 3 has a generous 2,720 mm wheelbase, providing ample space and comfort for its five occupants. It also has a large 440-liter trunk, which can be expanded to 1138 liters when the rear seats are folded down.

The Atto 3 has been launched in various markets around the world, including Australia, New Zealand, Cambodia, Nepal, India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brazil, and Israel, as well as several European countries.

Recently, the Flemish Automobile Club (VAB) named the BYD Atto 3 the Electric Family Car of the Year for 2023. The award is given annually to the best family cars in various categories and is determined through a three-day test by 15 professional motoring reporters and 74 family jurors at Circuit Zolder. The Atto 3 was selected as the winner from a pool of 10 electric cars from Volkswagen, Renault, Citroen, Nissan, CUPRA, MG, Aiways, Seres, and SsangYong.

Here are some specs of the Atto 3:

  • 150 kW and 310 Nm of torque motor
  • Max speed of 160 km/h (99 mph)
  • BYD Blade Battery with a capacity of 50.12 kWh (LFP)
  • Range of 320 km (WLTP)
  • The Atto 3 also has a longer range version with a 60.48 kWh battery. This version has a 420 km (260 mile) range (WLTP combined).
