Chevrolet in development of a hybrid Corvette. Now, the project has entered the stage of a concept car called the E-Ray.
In terms of performance, the Chevrolet Corvette hybrid is expected to use a 6,200 cc V8 engine and a small battery that drives a pair of front-mounted electric motors. With all-wheel drive, the car is claimed to be capable of producing 650 hp.
Chevrolet hinted that this product candidate was inspired by the Miray concept car that was introduced at the 2011 Seoul Motor Show.
Judging from the powertrain used, the Miray carries a mid-electric system, with a 1,500 cc turbocharged engine behind the driver and equipped with a 1.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, which drives a pair of front-mounted electric motors that produce 20 each. dk.
These electric vehicles are designed to enable zero emission vehicles in urban areas. “For driving performance, Miray’s 1,500 cc turbocharged four-cylinder engine is coupled to an electric motor, providing exuberant torque control to the left and right wheels as needed,” said Chevrolet in its official statement.
Meanwhile, Executive Director of GM Powertrain Advanced Engineering said, “Many components in the Miray propulsion system are logical extensions of current GM technology.”
