Dongfeng apparently wants to emulate Wuling's success in the cheap electric car market by releasing the FenGuang Mini EV. This model has a shape and name similar to the Wuling HongGuang Mini EV. Although the design and name are similar, the two are not at all bound to work together.

Overall, compared to Wuling, this Dongfeng electric car has almost identical proportions, small wheels, and very similar lines on the fenders, however, there are some points that make its appearance different. That includes black trim on the front bumper, a wider grille, doors, different window lines, and taillights that blend into the black trim.

Dongfeng FengGuang Mini EV Specifications

The Dongfeng FenGuang Mini EV adopts a micro with dimensions of 2,995 mm in length, 1,495 mm in width and 1,640 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1,960 mm. This dimension is slightly larger than the Wuling Mini EV.

In terms of powertrain, the FenGuang Mini EV is equipped with a single electric motor that produces 34 hp (25 kW), which is sufficient for a light vehicle to be used in an urban environment.

This also means that the FengGuang Mini EV will likely outperform the Wuling Mini EV which has a 27 hp (20 kW) motor. However, there is no more detailed information regarding the battery pack and its range.

The Dongfeng FengGuang Mini EV is said to be debuting in the first quarter of 2022 with an estimated price starting at around US$5,000.

In addition to dealing with the Wuling Mini EV, the FenGuang Mini EV will also compete with other small electric cars such as the Chery QQ Ice Cream, Baojun E300 EV, Jiayuan Komi, Baizhi Daxiong, and Changan Benben E-Star.
