BYD’s premium vehicle brand Denza has previewed the Z9S, a new battery-electric sedan that will expand the company’s Z-series lineup as it continues to introduce new models in the premium electric vehicle segment.

The company described the Z9S as a technology-focused luxury intelligent sedan, with the preview indicating the model is moving closer to its official market launch.

New Electric Sedan Joins Z Series

The Z9S adopts a fastback coupe-inspired design featuring slim headlights, frameless doors, semi-concealed door handles and yellow brake calipers.

According to previous filings published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the sedan measures 5,090 millimeters in length, 1,980 millimeters in width and 1,490 millimeters in height, with a wheelbase of 3,025 millimeters.

The vehicle’s dimensions place it within the large premium electric sedan segment.

Multiple Powertrain Configurations

Regulatory filings indicate the Z9S will be offered in at least two battery-electric configurations, both powered by permanent-magnet synchronous motors and capable of reaching a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour.

One version is equipped with a motor producing a maximum output of 320 kilowatts (429 horsepower), paired with 19-inch wheels and a curb weight of 2,250 kilograms.

A higher-output version increases peak power to 370 kilowatts and features 20-inch wheels with a curb weight of 2,545 kilograms.

Both variants use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology.

The model is also expected to be offered in additional configurations, including a version featuring Denza’s e3 technology platform and a long-range single-motor variant.

Advanced Technologies Expected

The Z9S is expected to incorporate several technologies already introduced across BYD’s premium vehicle portfolio.

These include the second-generation Blade Battery, the LiDAR-equipped version of BYD’s God’s Eye B advanced driver-assistance system, the DiSus-A intelligent air suspension system and a new-generation AI-powered smart cockpit.

The sedan will become the latest member of Denza’s Z series following the Z9 and Z9 GT.

Expanding Premium Lineup

The preview comes as Denza continues to broaden its premium product range.

Earlier this month, the brand presented the Denza Z all-electric two-door sports car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom as part of its latest product expansion.

An official launch date for the Z9S has not yet been announced, although the model has already appeared in Chinese regulatory filings ahead of its expected market introduction.
