The Denza Z9S, a new all-electric sedan from BYD’s premium brand Denza, has appeared in a filing published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), signaling that the model is moving closer to its official launch.

The latest batch of regulatory filings, released on July 10, provides technical details for the upcoming vehicle, including its dimensions, powertrain specifications and optional equipment.

The Denza Z9S measures 5,090 millimeters in length and 1,980 millimeters in width, with a wheelbase of 3,025 millimeters. Its size places it in a similar segment to the Xiaomi SU7, which has a length of 4,997 millimeters and a 3,000-millimeter wheelbase.

Two Powertrain Variants Listed

The filing shows that the Z9S will be offered in two battery-electric variants, both powered by permanent magnet synchronous motors manufactured by BYD and capable of reaching a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour.

The entry-level version delivers a peak output of 320 kilowatts (429 horsepower), has a body height of 1,510 millimeters, a curb weight of 2,250 kilograms and rides on 19-inch wheels.

The higher-performance version increases peak motor output to 370 kilowatts. It has a lower body height of 1,490 millimeters, a curb weight of 2,545 kilograms and is equipped with 20-inch wheels.

Both variants use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology and will offer optional features including an electric rear spoiler, alternative exterior mirrors and different door handle designs.

Denza Expands Its Electric Vehicle Portfolio

The Z9S becomes the latest member of Denza’s Z series, joining the Z9 and Z9 GT. Based on China’s regulatory approval process, new models typically enter the market within a few months after appearing in MIIT filings.

Denza has continued to expand its electric vehicle lineup. On July 9, the company showcased the Denza Z, its first all-electric two-door supercar, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom, marking the model’s overseas debut and making it the first Chinese electric supercar to be introduced to the European market.

The company plans to begin accepting pre-orders for the Denza Z in China on July 13, with deliveries expected to start in the fourth quarter. The model is expected to compete in the high-performance electric vehicle segment against rivals including the Porsche 911 and the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra.
