Deepal, the electric mobility brand of Changan Automobile, has launched the G318 range-extended hybrid SUV in the United Arab Emirates, marking the brand’s third model introduction in the country within a year.

The G318 was unveiled on Nov. 18 at Nara Oasis in Dubai and will be sold exclusively through Al Tayer Motors. Pricing starts at AED 129,900, the company said, with a six-year or 150,000-kilometre vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 150,000-kilometre battery warranty.

The model uses a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) architecture, combining an electric drivetrain with a petrol-powered generator that produces electricity to recharge the battery during driving. Deepal said the setup is intended to balance electric driving with extended-range capability for long-distance travel and off-road use common in the UAE.

“The G318 reflects our approach to developing vehicles that address practical mobility needs while supporting the transition toward lower-emission transportation,” said Xiao Feng, general manager of Changan Automobile’s Middle East and Africa division.

According to the company, the G318 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, supported by optimised fuel-to-electric energy conversion. The SUV features adaptive suspension and an intelligent terrain management system that automatically adjusts driving parameters based on road conditions.

The exterior follows Deepal’s “Meteorolite Cutting” design language, characterised by angular lines and a raised stance. Inside, the cabin focuses on digital functionality, including a central control screen, enhanced sound insulation and a driver-oriented layout.

Safety features include multiple airbags, advanced driver-assistance systems and a panoramic camera system designed to improve visibility during low-speed manoeuvres and off-road driving.

Ashok Khanna, chief executive of Al Tayer Motors, said the launch broadens consumer choice in the UAE’s electrified vehicle market. “The introduction of the G318 adds another option for customers exploring electrified mobility solutions that offer flexibility for varied driving environments,” he said.

The UAE debut of the G318 builds on earlier regional launches of the Deepal S05 and S07 models and forms part of Changan Automobile’s strategy to expand its electrified lineup in the Middle East with vehicles adapted to local driving conditions.
