Daimler Truck’s electric truck brand, Rizon, is expanding its portfolio with the introduction of two new models, the e18Mx and e18Lx, at the 2024 Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Las Vegas, USA. These Class 4 and Class 5 models, set to be available for the 2025 model year, offer upgraded payload capacity compared to Rizon’s current models.
The e18Mx and e18Lx models can move a total of 18,850 pounds (approximately 8.5 tonnes), an increase from the current models’ 17,995 pounds (about 8.2 tonnes). While specific technical details about the powertrain have not been released yet, Rizon states that the electric trucks will have a range of up to 160 miles (257 kilometers) and will support both Level 2 AC and DC fast charging.
These new models will be available with different body options, such as box trucks and stake beds, making them well-suited for urban and last-mile deliveries. Rizon emphasizes that the trucks feature a tight turning radius, ideal for city driving.
In addition to the new models, Rizon has updated its warranty package. The warranty now covers the powertrain and high-voltage electrical equipment for 8 years/120,000 miles and the high-voltage batteries for 8 years/185,000 miles.
Andreas Deuschle, the Global Head of Rizon Truck, commented on the brand’s progress since its launch in April 2023, stating, “A lot has happened since then including customer handovers and Rizon’s entry into the Canadian market. Now we are ready to offer our Model Year 2025 trucks. By increasing the gross vehicle weight and updating the warranty, Rizon is taking an important step forward to provide customers with the best solutions for their businesses.”
