The truck maker said that work on the eAtego electric truck had already begun and a global market launch would take place in the next few years.
Quoted from Inside EV, Thursday (22/9/2022) the eAtego truck is claimed to have a range of 100 to 200 miles (160 to 320 km) and this is Mercedes-Benz’s basic target for producing mid-range electric trucks.
With the launch of eAtego, Mercedes Benz Trucks will further increase its electric truck offerings to its customers.
The foundation has been laid on the eActros 300/400 launching in 2021 and the eEconic in 2022.
The current eActros lineup has also begun to expand, as seen in the truck-and-trailer and (semi) tractor combination slated to launch in 2023.
Together with partners, eActros will also be used as skiploaders, hookloaders, cranes, lifting platforms and refrigerated box trucks.
Simultaneously, the company is developing mid- and heavy-duty versions of the Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul, which will be launched in 2024 and will offer a range of up to 500 km (311 miles).
Currently, the vehicle electrification process is starting to develop rapidly in Europe, with several major vehicle manufacturers such as Volvo Trucks, MAN, Scania and DAF starting work on electric-powered vehicles.
