DAF Trucks has introduced a new interactive route simulator designed to help fleet operators assess whether battery-electric trucks can meet the requirements of their daily transport operations.
The DAF Electric Route Simulator allows users to model real-world routes and evaluate the suitability of different electric truck configurations before making investment decisions. The tool is aimed at transport companies considering a transition to zero-emission vehicles and seeking greater clarity on vehicle range and operational performance.
According to DAF, the simulator provides an initial assessment of route viability based on customer-specific operating conditions and supports the company’s entire battery-electric truck lineup.

The simulator includes DAF’s complete range of electric commercial vehicles, from the 12-tonne XB Electric designed for urban and regional distribution to the XD Electric, XF Electric, XG Electric, and XG+ Electric models developed for heavier-duty and long-haul applications.
The latest XG and XG+ Electric trucks are equipped with modular electric drivetrains powered by PACCAR electric motors delivering up to 350 kW of output.
The vehicles are available with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs and support DC fast charging at up to 325 kW. An optional 22 kW onboard AC charger is also offered.
Depending on customer requirements, operators can select between three and five battery packs, providing total battery capacities ranging from 315 kWh to 525 kWh. DAF says this can deliver driving ranges of up to 500 kilometres under suitable operating conditions.
Route Planning Based on Real-World Conditions
The simulator enables fleet managers to input route information and compare multiple vehicle configurations.
Users can adjust key parameters including battery capacity, chassis layout, axle configuration, vehicle weight, and truck model. The tool then calculates how these changes affect vehicle range and the ability to complete specific routes.
According to DAF, the simulator reflects the modular architecture of its electric truck portfolio and helps customers understand the impact of different specifications on operational performance.
“The DAF Route Simulator shows quickly how optimal vehicle specifications enhance the truck’s performance in daily use,” the company said.
Supporting Fleet Electrification Decisions
The route simulator is intended to serve as an early-stage planning tool for transport operators evaluating electric vehicles for the first time.
Once an initial assessment has been completed, users can connect directly with DAF dealers through the platform for more detailed route analysis and vehicle recommendations.
DAF dealers have access to advanced software tools capable of conducting more comprehensive operational evaluations tailored to specific fleet requirements.
Part of a Broader E-Mobility Strategy
The new simulator forms part of DAF’s wider support ecosystem for fleet electrification.
