Dacia’s Sandero continues to dominate as the brand’s best-selling vehicle, with an impressive 235,000 units sold in 2023. Despite its success, the Sandero, which also ranks as the second best-selling vehicle in Europe during the same period, has yet to offer an electrified option.

However, Dacia is poised to join the electric revolution, announcing plans to introduce a battery-electric variant of the Sandero with its next generation in 2027 or 2028, aligning with EU regulations mandating manufacturers to transition to electric vehicles.

Denis Le Vot, Dacia’s brand boss, shared insights into the upcoming model, stating, “The next-generation Sandero will have an internal combustion engine, but it will also have an electric version.” Le Vot hinted at the vehicle’s dimensions, calling it a “huge car.” He emphasized the company’s commitment to making electric vehicles affordable, stating, “It’s not really about the A- or B-segment [minicar or small], but about bringing affordable electromobility to the market.”

Recently, Dacia unveiled updates for its Spring electric vehicle, which will now be available in the UK for the first time. While exact pricing details are yet to be disclosed, Le Vot indicated that the average price in Europe would be around €20,000, “even in less certain markets.”

In addition to the Sandero and Spring updates, Dacia announced plans for the Duster SUV, which will feature a 140-hp E-Tech full-hybrid drivetrain and will be priced at “just less than €20,000.” The brand is also set to introduce a compact SUV based on the CMF-B platform in 2025, named the ‘Bigster’, which Le Vot described as “more of a ‘cruising’ vehicle than the Duster.”

As part of its strategic realignment, Dacia will shift production lines, with all Sandero and Jogger production moving to Morocco. Meanwhile, the main factory in Pitesti, Romania, will focus on manufacturing the Duster and Bigster models.
