Cupra presented the camouflaged production version of its new Raval electric car at the IAA Mobility show in Munich, confirming that the model will go into series production in the coming months and hit the market next year. Its official world premiere is planned for 2026 in Barcelona.
The Raval will be the first model in Volkswagen Group’s upcoming small electric car family to enter production at the Martorell plant near Barcelona, ahead of the VW ID. Polo and other compact EVs. At the IAA, the Raval appeared as a finished series vehicle, though covered in camouflage vinyl featuring a map-inspired design of Barcelona’s Raval district.
Cupra said the Raval would distinguish itself from the ID. Polo with a sports chassis lowered by 15 millimetres, specially tuned suspension, and progressive steering. The top model, the Raval VZ, will deliver 166 kW, feature 19-inch wheels with wider 235 mm tyres, DCC sports suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential and ESC-OFF mode, alongside a sportier interior with bucket seats.
The Raval will be built on Volkswagen’s MEB+ platform with a 2.60-metre wheelbase. Measuring 4.05 metres in length, 1.78 metres in width and 1.52 metres in height, it will be available with two battery sizes – a base version expected to use a 35–38 kWh LFP pack and a larger 58 kWh NMC pack in higher trims. Prices for the entry-level model are expected to start at around £25,000.
“The CUPRA Raval is now shaping our future. Because with it, we’ve brought together everything CUPRA stands for: emotion, striking design, electrifying performance and as always, driver focused,” said Markus Haupt, interim CEO of Cupra. “For us, the CUPRA Raval is more than a car. What truly makes it special is the project behind it – the Electric Urban Car Family – which we are proud to be leading from Spain.”
