Volkswagen has opened order books in the United Kingdom for the new ID. Polo, with prices starting at £23,945 ahead of regular customer sales beginning in September.
The compact electric hatchback is initially available in Life Launch Edition and Style Launch Edition variants, while the standard production lineup is scheduled to go on sale on Sept. 10.
UK Orders Begin
The ID. Polo is offered with two battery options featuring net capacities of 37 kWh and 52 kWh, paired with power outputs of 116 PS, 135 PS and 211 PS.
Depending on the variant, the model offers a WLTP driving range of up to 281 miles (452 kilometres).
Launch editions are equipped with the 52 kWh battery and 211 PS electric motor, while a 37 kWh Life Launch Edition with 135 PS will be available only from existing inventory.
Volkswagen said all 52 kWh variants producing 211 PS qualify for the UK government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant.
Standard and Launch Equipment
The standard lineup will comprise Life and Style trim levels.
The Life trim includes front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging, AppConnect and a height-adjustable luggage compartment floor.
The Style trim adds IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, illuminated Volkswagen logos and front light bar, ID.Light ambient lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels and sports comfort front seats.
Launch editions include additional features.
The Life Launch Edition adds dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and a heated multifunction steering wheel.
The Style Launch Edition further includes a panoramic glass roof, massage front seats, an Area View camera system, Travel Assist, Park Assist Pro and rear privacy glass.
European Rollout Continues
Alongside the UK, Volkswagen has also opened orders for the new entry-level electric hatchback in several other European markets, including Germany, France and the Netherlands.
The ID. Polo is the first model in Volkswagen’s ID. family to use a front-wheel-drive version of the MEB+ platform.
According to the company, the platform enables a flat cabin floor and a spacious interior despite the vehicle’s compact dimensions.
The five-seat hatchback offers up to 441 litres of luggage capacity, expanding to 1,240 litres with the rear seats folded, exceeding the cargo capacity of both the current ID.3 and Golf.
