Chinese manufacturer Sany will introduce its e263 long-haul electric truck to the European market in early 2026, as the heavy equipment maker expands its presence beyond construction machinery into commercial vehicles.

The 4×2 tractor unit, unveiled under the Sany eTrucks division, is designed for long-haul transport with a claimed range of more than 500 kilometres. It will be powered by a dual-motor electric axle delivering 420 kW continuous output and up to 730 kW peak power, with torque figures of 1,000 Nm and 1,760 Nm respectively. The truck will run on an 800-volt system architecture and draw energy from a 636-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.

Sany has not disclosed its battery supplier, though Chinese reports point to a potential partnership with Eve Energy. On paper, the truck’s specifications compare closely with Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, one of Europe’s most prominent long-haul electric trucks, with Sany claiming an edge in peak performance.

The e263 will measure 6.64 metres in length, 2.54 metres in width, and 3.87 metres in height, with a four-metre wheelbase. Its unladen weight is listed at 10.9 tonnes, while the gross train weight will reach 42 tonnes. Charging will initially use CCS with a capacity of up to 400 kW, with megawatt charging (MCS) support planned later.

To broaden its utility, the model will offer three power take-off (PTO) options: a 45 kW electric motor for continuous output, a gearbox PTO delivering 210 kW for heavy equipment such as silo trailers, and an AC/DC ePTO suitable for refrigerated transport.

Sany is positioning the truck as a competitive alternative to diesel vehicles. It said the investment required for the e263 is only “slightly higher than purchasing diesel driven trucks,” while claiming the “fastest payback” and best total cost of ownership among current electric trucks in Europe.

The company said the launch will be supported by Putzmeister, the German concrete machinery specialist Sany acquired in 2012, which will provide spare parts and customer support. Maintenance, diagnostics and repairs will be handled by Alltrucks, a multi-brand workshop operator with around 700 locations across Europe. Sany also plans to offer full-service contracts ranging from six to ten years, 24/7 roadside assistance, telematics, and over-the-air (OTA) updates.

Kevin Eichele, Head of Product and Business Development at Sany eTrucks Europe, said the rollout builds on Sany’s earlier success in heavy-duty electric construction vehicles. “By offering both the new 4×2 e263 and established 8×4 e435 electric models, SANY eTrucks supported by Putzmeister provides European fleet operators with tailored solutions for a wide variety of applications,” he said.

The company’s 8×4 e435 electric chassis was shown at the Bauma trade fair in Germany earlier this year, equipped with a 350-kWh battery and 405 kW of peak power for up to 300 kilometres of range. It has since been deployed in applications such as Putzmeister’s all-electric iOntron concrete mixer.

Sany said it already has more than 40,000 electric tractor units operating worldwide and aims to replicate its success in Europe’s growing zero-emission truck market, where regulatory pressure and fleet operator demand are pushing for faster electrification of long-haul transport.
