Ford Reveals High-Powered Electric NASCAR Prototype, Eyes Future of EV Racing

Ford has introduced an electric NASCAR prototype based on the Mustang Mach-E, continuing its push to make electric vehicles more thrilling for motorsports audiences.

The prototype follows NASCAR’s own electric concept, unveiled in 2024, which delivered over 1,300 horsepower with a tri-motor setup.

Ford has not disclosed power figures for its latest prototype, but industry analysts suggest it could exceed 1,500 horsepower, given the automaker’s previous high-performance EV demonstrators.

The vehicle retains key components from Ford’s current NASCAR Cup car, including suspension, brakes, and wheels, while integrating a 78.0-kWh battery pack within a Next Gen Cup car chassis. To reduce weight, the body panels, floor, and firewall are constructed from carbon fiber.

In addition to the NASCAR prototype, Ford has teased another EV demonstrator, featuring an aggressive aerodynamic package with a large wing and widened fenders. The company has not provided full specifications, but the design hints at a high-performance build similar to the 2024 Supertruck, which generated more than 6,000 pounds of downforce.

For the third consecutive year, Ford plans to compete in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, with racing driver Romain Dumas set to pilot the new Mach-E demonstrator.

Dumas holds the overall record at Pikes Peak, having completed the course in 7:57.148 in 2018 with Volkswagen’s I.D. R. He also set the Open Class record in 2023 with Ford’s Supervan 4.2, clocking 8:47.682.
