ChargePoint has introduced a new service initiative called Safeguard Care, aimed at improving the reliability and uptime of its electric vehicle charging network through regular on-site maintenance and inspections. The programme is now live in six U.S. states—California, Florida, New York, Texas, Massachusetts, and Georgia—and is targeted at operators without dedicated maintenance staff, such as municipalities, workplaces, and parking facility owners.
The Safeguard Care service includes routine visits by trained field technicians who perform visual inspections, cleaning, minor adjustments or repairs, and test charges to verify performance. More complex issues that cannot be resolved during the visit are escalated to ChargePoint’s technical support teams.
“Safeguard Care further demonstrates our commitment to delivering a reliable charging experience,” said JD Singh, Chief Customer Experience Officer at ChargePoint. “As the original manufacturer of the chargers, we are able to ensure the highest standards of service and support. With Safeguard Care, we are giving station owners and EV drivers peace of mind knowing that chargers will be in pristine working order.”
The initiative builds on ChargePoint’s existing remote diagnostics tools and anti-vandalism technologies managed through its network operations centre. The company says Safeguard Care is designed to complement its ChargePoint Assure program, providing a more comprehensive support system for widely deployed or high-traffic charging networks.
The introduction of Safeguard Care comes amid growing attention on EV charging infrastructure reliability, particularly in areas where operators face challenges maintaining equipment due to lack of staff or local technical expertise. The company plans to expand the program to additional regions based on customer demand and operational results.
Earlier this year, ChargePoint also launched new anti-vandalism features including a cut-resistant charging cable and a built-in alarm system, aimed at reducing downtime and repair costs from vandalism-related incidents.
