Carrefour will install Electric Vehicles charging stations at French hypermarkets, supermarkets

Carrefour announced that it will install more than 700 electric vehicle charging stations and 5,000 charging points in Carrefour Market hypermarkets and supermarkets across France by 2025.

Previously several retailers also did the same thing. Starbucks Teams up with Volvo to install public EV chargers station. At an early stage this partnership will be realized with the installation of 60 Volvo-branded ChargePoint DC fast chargers in 15 Starbucks store locations.

This is seen as a strategy by some retailers to provide extra services to customers and increase their green credentials.

The first filling station for Carrefour customers to use is in the parking lot of the La Chapelle Saint-Luc hypermarket in Troyes, northeastern France. The charging station will start operating on April 8.

Europe itself is targeting 130 million electric vehicles by 2035.

According to the “Power sector accelerating e-mobility” report from the professional services group and European utility trade agency, it takes 65 million electric vehicle chargers consisting of 9 million public chargers and 56 million residential chargers to keep pace with the growth of electric vehicles in Europe.
