Yangwang, the ultra-luxury sub-brand of BYD, said on Thursday it would soon launch its U7 luxury sedan, following the start of pre-sales last November.
“The never-before-seen DiSus-Z has now completed its development and testing, and will soon meet you with the launch of the Yangwang U7,” the brand announced on its Weibo account.

The DiSus-Z system, a newly developed branch of BYD’s DiSus body control system, will debut in the U7. Yangwang said the system enhances ride comfort beyond that of a maglev train. A video released earlier showed the sedan maintaining stability on rough roads, while another demonstrated its suspension adjusting precisely enough to navigate a ball through a maze placed on the car’s roof.
Yangwang’s general manager for sales, Hu Xiaoqing, described DiSus-Z as offering millisecond-level vertical adjustments, ensuring a smooth ride even over speed bumps. “We have not only redefined comfort in a flagship sedan, but we have made βlike walking on flat groundβ an everyday occurrence,” Hu said.

First unveiled in January 2024, the U7 is positioned as a flagship new energy sedan in the RMB 1 million ($138,000) segment. The model features over 1,000 horsepower and incorporates BYD’s e4 technology for precise vehicle control.
Yangwang disclosed key specifications last year, listing the U7’s dimensions at 5,265 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,517 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm. The vehicle boasts a wind resistance coefficient of Cd 0.195, the lowest recorded for a production sedan. Regulatory filings from January 2024 revealed the car is powered by four permanent magnet synchronous motors, each delivering a peak power of 240 kW, supporting a top speed of 270 km/h.

The U7 made its public debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2024. Pre-sales commenced on November 15 at the Guangzhou Auto Show, with customers required to place a deposit of 20,000 yuan ($2,770). Yangwang has yet to disclose final pricing details.
Yangwang offers both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variants of the U7. The BEV model is equipped with a 135.5 kWh high-performance blade battery pack, capable of delivering a CLTC range of 720 kilometers. The battery supports dual-gun fast charging up to 500 kW, allowing a charge from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes.
