Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has introduced flash-charging versions of two SUVs under its personalized sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao, expanding the rollout of its latest battery and charging technologies.

The company unveiled the flash-charging editions of the Tai 3 and Tai 7 electric SUVs at a technology event on Thursday, with additional product details expected to be released at a dedicated launch event on March 13.

Both models incorporate BYD’s second-generation blade battery and a new flash-charging system capable of delivering up to 1,500 kW of charging power. According to the company, the system can charge the battery from 10% to 70% in about five minutes, while reaching 97% capacity in roughly nine minutes.

The Tai 3 flash-charging edition is positioned as a compact electric SUV with a maximum driving range of up to 620 kilometres. The vehicle measures 4,605 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,720 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,745 mm.

The model uses a dual-motor configuration, with front and rear motors producing 135 kW and 240 kW respectively. The system supports a top speed of 210 km/h and includes intelligent torque control and all-terrain recognition systems designed to improve stability in challenging driving conditions.

Alongside it, BYD presented the Tai 7 flash-charging edition, a larger mid-size electric SUV measuring 4,999 mm long, 1,995 mm wide and 1,865 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm.

The two-wheel-drive version offers a maximum electric range of up to 755 kilometres, making it the longest-range pure electric model in the Tai series so far. The vehicle is available in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

The rear-wheel-drive variant produces up to 300 kW of power, while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version delivers up to 515 kW and a top speed of 240 km/h.

The Tai 7 retains a box-shaped design and introduces features including an electric front trunk and expanded cargo capacity. Inside, the vehicle includes a multi-screen digital interface and a Devialet audio system aimed at reinforcing its premium positioning.

The Tai series began with the launch of the Tai 3 in April 2025, followed by the Tai 7 in September the same year. Fang Cheng Bao’s lineup also includes hybrid off-road SUVs such as the Bao 5 and Bao 8.
