Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has refreshed the lineup of its ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang, unveiling updated versions of three flagship models equipped with the company’s latest battery and charging technologies.
At a launch event on Thursday, the automaker introduced the 2026 versions of the Yangwang U7 sedan, the Yangwang U8 hybrid SUV and the Yangwang U8L Dingshi Edition. All three models are equipped with BYD’s second-generation blade battery and flash-charging technology.

The updated vehicles are priced from 658,000 yuan ($95,310) for the U7, 1,008,000 yuan for the U8 and 1,300,000 yuan for the U8L Dingshi Edition. The U7 and U8L models have seen slight price increases compared with previous versions, while the price of the U8 has been marginally reduced. BYD also announced a range of promotional offers, including financing plans, trade-in incentives and limited-time deposit discounts.

Launched in 2023, the Yangwang brand targets the high-end automotive segment and serves as a platform for BYD to showcase advanced technologies as it competes with established luxury brands and emerging premium EV manufacturers.

The Yangwang U7 is positioned as a large luxury sedan available in both fully electric and plug-in hybrid versions. The battery-electric variant has a maximum driving range of up to 1,006 kilometres under the CLTC test cycle and uses a quad-motor drivetrain capable of producing up to 1,000 kW of total power.
The model also features the DiSus‑Z suspension system, along with rear-wheel steering and agile steering technologies designed to enhance handling and ride comfort.
The Yangwang U8, a luxury off-road SUV, has been upgraded with improved energy efficiency and faster charging capabilities. The hybrid model offers a CLTC electric range of 230 kilometres and a combined range of up to 1,205 kilometres.

BYD said the vehicle can charge to 70% in around five minutes and to 97% in approximately nine minutes. The SUV uses the quad-motor e4 powertrain delivering up to 880 kW of output and enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in about 3.6 seconds.
The model also incorporates the DiSus‑P Plus suspension system and includes safety features such as emergency flotation and tire blowout stabilization.
The Yangwang U8L Dingshi Edition serves as the brand’s flagship model. The luxury SUV measures about 5,400 mm in length with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm and includes upgraded interior and exterior features. BYD said the vehicle carries an exclusive badge made from 24-karat gold to emphasize its luxury positioning.

Both the U8 and U8L are equipped with the God’s Eye A driver-assistance platform, which provides navigation-assisted driving functions on highways and urban roads.
BYD has been expanding its presence in the premium electric vehicle segment in recent years, with the Yangwang brand playing a central role in demonstrating the company’s latest technologies.
