BYD is set to announce its vehicle intelligence strategy on February 10 at its global headquarters in Shenzhen, Guangdong province. The company has extended invitations for the event, highlighting its commitment to making technology accessible. “Technology is made for people and should be available to everyone,” BYD stated in the invitation.
The forthcoming “God’s Eye” system aims to usher in a new era of intelligent driving, providing users with enhanced safety, comfort, and convenience. BYD’s Shenzhen-listed shares experienced a significant uptick, rising nearly 9% to RMB 307.02, reaching a three-month high, partly due to this announcement.

In early 2024, BYD initiated a price competition with the launch of its Glory Edition updates. However, since the beginning of 2025, the company has yet to introduce a new promotional strategy. Reports from Tencent News, citing Caixin, indicate that regulatory authorities have provided “window guidance” to BYD, making it challenging to replicate previous tactics of price reductions through model revisions. Nevertheless, BYD is considering a widespread implementation of its smart driving system across mainstream models and may offer this feature at no additional cost.
In March 2022, BYD ceased production and sales of vehicles powered solely by internal combustion engines, shifting its focus to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs). This strategic move led to rapid sales growth, establishing BYD as the world’s largest new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer within a few years.

Building on its success in electrification, BYD is now concentrating on vehicle intelligence, viewed as the next competitive frontier. On January 16, 2024, the company introduced the Xuanji Architecture, the core of its vehicle intelligence strategy, and announced plans to invest RMB 100 billion (approximately $13.7 billion) in this area.
Recent media reports suggest that BYD is intensifying its focus on smart driving technology, anticipating it will drive continued strong sales growth. A November 7, 2024, report from 36kr indicated that BYD plans to introduce smart-driving-enabled variants across all its models in 2025, ranging from the affordable BYD Seagull, priced around RMB 60,000, to the high-end Yangwang U8, priced at RMB 1 million.
