BYD said in a release that it sold a record 134,036 new energy vehicles (NEV) in June. The month was up 224.02 percent from 41,366 units in the same month last year and 16.61 percent from 114,943 units in May.
BYD halted production and sales of internal combustion engine vehicles in March to focus on producing new energy vehicles (NEVs) such as battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV).
Of the 134,036 vehicles sold in June, 133,762 were passenger vehicles including 69,544 BEVs and 64,218 PHEVs. Meanwhile, sales of new energy commercial vehicles were 274 units.
In the second quarter, BYD sold 355,021 NEV, up 255.63 percent from 99,828 units in the same period last year. Meanwhile, when compared to the first quarter of this year, the number rose 23.99 percent.
From January to June, BYD sold 641,350 NEV, up 314.9% from 154,579 units in the same period last year.
