BYD has just unveiled an official image of the Seal sedan, which is the new mid-size all-electric from the Shenzhen-based manufacturer. BYD Seal adopts the company’s latest design line and is scheduled to be unveiled to the public in April this year. BYD Seal is projected to compete Tesla’s Model 3.

It is estimated that the BYD Seal will be officially introduced at the Beijing Auto Show in April, with a price range of 220,000-280,000 RMB (34,600-44,100 USD).

The BYD Seal features an enclosed air intake grille with raised hoods on both sides. The side of the car looks sleek and has hidden door handles.

The BYD Seal has a model body size of 4800*1875*1460mm, and a wheelbase of 2920mm. BYD has registered three versions of the Seal with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Two versions have rear-wheel drive and one version has four-wheel drive.

BYD Seal’s range is 700km with 800V high voltage platform. The BYD Seal will be manufactured at the BYD Changzhou base with an annual production capacity of 60,000 units and an expected monthly sales of 5,000 units.

The BYD Seal is based on the BYD 3.0 e-platform, which allows for a range of over 1,000 km with the 8-in-1 electric powertrain. Using dual motors and all-wheel drive it can accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 2.9 seconds.

The platform has a fast charging capability of 150 km after 5 minutes of charging. In addition, e-platform 3.0 is equipped with a direct cooling and heating system for the battery, increasing thermal efficiency by up to 20%.
