BYD Seal 07 Debuts August 8 in EV and PHEV Variants

BYD is set to launch both the EV and DM-i versions of the Seal 07 on August 8, marking another significant release in 2024 for the Chinese automaker. Although the two versions share the same name and similar styling, they are distinguishable by the EV’s closed front and the DM-i’s 5-slat grille.

The Seal 07 DM-i features dimensions of 4980 mm in length, 1890 mm in width, and 1495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2900 mm. The car is registered with three weight variations: 1795 kg, 1900 kg, and 1960 kg.

This model is seen as a replacement for the existing Seal DM-i and is equipped with BYD’s new DM 5.0 technology. Lower-spec versions will include a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 74 kW of power, while higher-spec versions will feature a 1.5T engine with 115 kW of power and two electric motor options of 160 kW and 200 kW.

The EV version of the Seal 07, an update to the original fully electric BYD Seal, maintains the same dimensions: 4800 mm in length, 1875 mm in width, and 1460 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2920 mm. The EV model offers single and dual-motor versions. Single-motor options include 170 kW and 230 kW motors, while the dual-motor version combines a 230 kW rear motor with a 160 kW front motor, achieving a top speed of 225 km/h.

Battery capacities for the single-motor EV are believed to be 61.44 kWh and 80.64 kWh, delivering CLTC ranges of 510 km and 650 km, respectively. The dual-motor version offers a range of 600 km. The Seal 07 utilizes lithium iron phosphate blade batteries and cell-to-body technology, with the new e-platform 3.0 Evo and 800V architecture for enhanced charging efficiency, supporting 240 kW fast charging.

Both versions of the Seal 07 are expected to include a Lidar option, enhancing driver assistance capabilities. Spy shots reveal a simpler interior design for the Seal 07 EV, similar to the Sea Lion 07 EV.

“The outcome is only water drops which you won’t even recognize, as they will disappear with the airstream while you are riding. We are offering a zero-emission and absolutely eco-friendly hydrogen powered solutions with our smart mobility bikes and scooters,” HydroRide Europe’s CEO, Adam Benz, told Auto Futures.

BYD continues to expand its electric and hybrid vehicle lineup, with the Seal 07 being the latest addition to its offerings. The full specifications, including battery capacities and performance details, are anticipated to be revealed at the official launch.
