EUROGATE and Swiss autonomous driving specialist Embotech have completed a six-month pilot project testing autonomous terminal tractor operations at the EUROGATE Container Terminal in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, the companies said, after all 18 predefined operational use cases were successfully validated. The trial, carried out with terminal tractor manufacturer MAFI and technology integrator ICT Group, covered the full horizontal transport cycle of containers in an active port environment, including both landside and waterside movements. Imported electric vehicle (EV) sales in South Korea are on track to surpass a 30% market share for the first time this year, marking a sharp contrast with slowing EV demand in the broader domestic auto sector. Industry data indicates that foreign-brand electric models are experiencing renewed momentum, particularly among premium manufacturers. Waymo said on Tuesday it has begun removing safety operators from its autonomous vehicle fleet in Miami, marking another step toward a planned commercial rollout in 2026 as the Alphabet-owned company accelerates its expansion across the United States. Ford Motor said on Monday it will begin offering certified pre-owned vehicles through Amazon Autos, expanding the e-commerce platform’s reach into used-car retail a year after Amazon launched online new-car sales with Hyundai. Kia said it has completed the Hwaseong EVO Plant East and begun construction of the EVO Plant West, establishing Hyundai Motor Group’s first dedicated Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) production hub in South Korea. Combined, the two facilities are designed to support annual output of 250,000 PBVs.
