BYD Introduces Three New Energy Vehicles Models in Uzbekistan During Brand Debut

BYD, the largest Chinese manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEVs), recently made its brand debut in Uzbekistan, one of the largest automotive markets in Central Asia. During the brand debut event held on March 16, BYD introduced three models to local consumers, including the Han EV, Song Plus DM-i, and Chazor DM-i.

As Uzbekistan is transitioning toward vehicle electrification, BYD’s advanced blade battery and DM-i super hybrid technology are expected to meet the demand of local consumers. Furthermore, three BYD stores will open in Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent, this month, including a flagship store and technology museum, a comprehensive brand experience center, and a city showroom.

BYD has been making efforts to pave the way for its long-term growth in Uzbekistan. In February 2022, BYD and Uzavtosanoat JSC (UzAuto) signed a memorandum of understanding to study the feasibility of joint production of electric passenger cars and electric buses in the Central Asian country. On December 30, 2022, BYD announced the establishment of a joint venture with UzAuto in Uzbekistan, focusing on the production of NEVs and their components.

With its recent success in overseas markets, BYD sold 193,655 vehicles in February, up 27.96 percent from January and up 119.36 percent from the same month last year. In February, BYD sold 15,002 NEVs in overseas markets, up 44.13 percent from January.

In addition to its business progress in Uzbekistan, BYD also announced its partnership with UAE dealer Al-Futtaim on March 15. With its expansion in international markets, BYD continues to be a leading player in the NEV industry.
