Buick has launched the battery-electric version of its Electra L7 sedan in China, expanding its electric vehicle lineup with an 80.6 kWh battery, a claimed CLTC range of 702 kilometres and 6C fast-charging capability.
The Electra L7 BEV is offered in three versions with official prices of 179,900 yuan ($26,510), 199,900 yuan and 209,900 yuan. After launch incentives, the prices are reduced to 169,900 yuan ($25,040), 189,900 yuan and 199,900 yuan.
800-Volt Platform Supports Fast Charging
Buick says the Electra L7 BEV is built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform and comes with 6C ultra-fast charging across the range.

The sedan’s 80.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery is supplied by CATL. Buick says a 10-minute charging session can add up to 450 km of range.
Using DC fast charging, the battery can charge from 30% to 80% in nine minutes and from 10% to 80% in 11.5 minutes.
Rear Motor Produces 282 kW
The Electra L7 BEV uses a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle. It produces a maximum 282 kW (378 hp) and 382 Nm of peak torque.
The sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and has a top speed of 220 km/h.

The vehicle measures 5,032 mm in length, 1,952 mm in width and 1,499 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase.
Momenta Technology Supports Driver Assistance
The Electra L7’s driver-assistance system uses the R6 reinforcement-learning foundation model developed by Chinese autonomous driving company Momenta. Buick plans to deliver the R7 version later through an over-the-air software update.
The entry-level version does not include advanced driver-assistance functions. The other two versions feature one LiDAR sensor, three millimeter-wave radars and seven high-definition cameras.
The vehicle also uses a road-preview suspension system that Buick calls “Magic Carpet.” The system is designed to detect road irregularities such as potholes and speed bumps up to 20 metres ahead.
Cabin Uses Qualcomm Platform
Inside, the Electra L7 BEV uses Qualcomm’s SA8775P chip for its digital cockpit.
Equipment includes a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central display, a 50-inch panoramic augmented-reality head-up display and a 27-speaker Buick Sound audio system.
Electra L7 Enters Competitive Sedan Market
The battery-electric Electra L7 joins an extended-range electric version that launched in China in September 2025. The two versions share the same starting price of 169,900 yuan after applicable launch incentives.
The BEV version will compete with electric sedans from other joint ventures, including Toyota’s bZ7, as well as Chinese models such as the Xiaomi SU7 and Luxeed S7.
The launch comes shortly after SAIC Motor and General Motors agreed on Aug. 5 to extend their joint venture for another 20 years, through 2047. The Electra L7 BEV is the latest model introduced by SAIC-GM as the partners continue expanding their electric vehicle offerings in China.
