BYD has launched the 2027 Seal 06 sedan in Shenzhen, China, with prices starting at 99,900 yuan ($14,712). The updated model is available in 12 versions, including plug-in hybrid and battery-electric variants, and introduces BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and flash-charging technology on the all-electric versions.

The DM-i plug-in hybrid models are priced from 99,900 yuan to 141,900 yuan, while the battery-electric versions range from 109,900 yuan to 155,900 yuan.

EV Version Gains Longer Range and Faster Charging

The all-electric Seal 06 uses BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and a flash-charging platform as standard equipment.

The EV has a CLTC-rated range of up to 630 kilometres, compared with 545 kilometres for the previous generation. Single-motor versions offer peak power outputs of 120 kW and 240 kW, depending on configuration, with the quickest version accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.

BYD says its flash-charging technology can recharge the vehicle to near full capacity in about nine minutes. Buyers of the electric model will receive free flash charging for the first year.

The company said it had established 7,018 flash-charging stations across 325 Chinese cities and is targeting 20,000 stations by the end of 2026.

LiDAR Added to Driver Assistance System

The 2027 Seal 06 also receives a LiDAR-equipped version of BYD’s God’s Eye B driver assistance system.

The system supports urban navigation-guided driving, highway navigation-guided driving and all-scenario intelligent parking. The previous Seal 06 used the vision-only God’s Eye C system, corresponding to DiPilot 100.

BYD said the new model is the first family sedan in this price segment from the company to receive a LiDAR-equipped driver assistance system.

The automaker also said it will provide liability coverage for accidents involving smart parking and urban navigation-guided driving functions.

DM-i Version Offers Extended Combined Range

The plug-in hybrid Seal 06 uses BYD’s fifth-generation DM-i technology.

The DM-i versions offer a CLTC-rated electric range of up to 320 kilometres. BYD lists fuel consumption of 2.59 litres per 100 kilometres when the battery is depleted.

With a full tank and fully charged battery, the company states a combined range of up to 2,370 kilometres.

Updated Exterior and Interior

The new Seal 06 adopts BYD’s latest Ocean design language and is larger than the previous model.

The sedan measures 4,870 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

Inside, the vehicle features a 15.6-inch central display and the advanced version of BYD’s DiLink 150 smart cockpit. DeepSeek AI is integrated into the system.

Higher-specification versions also receive BYD’s DiSus-C intelligent damping body control system.

Seal Series Faces Competitive Market

The Seal series is one of BYD’s offerings in China’s lower-priced electric vehicle market. The series sold 518,412 units in 2025, accounting for 11.26% of BYD’s total sales for the year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Sales have weakened in 2026. The series recorded 40,399 deliveries in July, down 13.77% from a year earlier. Sales for the first seven months reached 210,541 units, a year-on-year decline of 15.60%.

The Seal 06 competes in China’s family sedan segment, where vehicles are typically priced between 100,000 yuan and 150,000 yuan. Rivals cited for the model include Geely Auto’s Galaxy A7 EM and Xpeng’s Mona M03.

The 2027 update adds higher-capacity battery technology, faster charging and additional driver assistance functions while keeping the Seal 06 within a similar price range to its predecessor.
