General Motors’ Buick brand has started accepting pre-orders for the battery-electric Electra L7 sedan in China, expanding its electrified vehicle lineup in the world’s largest automotive market.
The automaker has not yet disclosed the model’s official retail price. Customers who place a pre-order before August 19 are eligible for promotional incentives, including a 1,000-yuan deposit that will be credited as 6,000 yuan toward the vehicle’s final purchase price.
Electric Sedan Features 800-Volt Architecture
The Electra L7 is built on an 800-volt electrical architecture that Buick says is designed to support high-speed charging and improved vehicle performance.
All versions of the sedan come equipped with 6C ultra-fast charging technology, enabling the battery to gain up to 450 kilometers of driving range after a 10-minute charging session.
The vehicle uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs supplied by CATL, with every variant offering a claimed driving range exceeding 700 kilometers.
The battery-electric Electra L7 appeared in a vehicle catalog published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in May, clearing the way for its commercial launch.
According to regulatory filings, the sedan is powered by a single electric motor producing a maximum output of 282 kilowatts (378 horsepower) and has a top speed of 220 kilometers per hour.
Technology-Focused Interior
The Electra L7 shares its dimensions with the previously introduced extended-range version, measuring 5,032 millimeters in length, 1,952 millimeters in width and 1,500 millimeters in height, with a 3,000-millimeter wheelbase.
Positioned in the mid-to-large sedan segment, the model includes a road-preview chassis system capable of detecting road surface irregularities up to 20 meters ahead, according to Buick.
Inside the cabin, the vehicle is powered by Qualcomm’s SA8775P processor and features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 50-inch panoramic augmented reality head-up display.
For driver assistance, the sedan integrates autonomous driving technology developed by Chinese startup Momenta. The system supports urban Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) as well as automated parking assistance across multiple parking scenarios.
Buick Continues China Electrification Strategy
The battery-electric Electra L7 expands Buick’s growing portfolio of electrified models in China.
The extended-range version of the Electra L7 entered the Chinese market in September 2025 with a promotional starting price of 169,900 yuan. It features a 40.2-kWh battery pack, providing a battery-only driving range of 302 kilometers and a combined range of up to 1,420 kilometers.
Earlier this year, Buick also introduced the Electra E7 plug-in hybrid SUV in China with a starting price of 154,900 yuan after incentives.
The launch of the battery-electric Electra L7 represents another step in General Motors’ strategy to strengthen Buick’s presence in China’s rapidly expanding new energy vehicle market.
