BP Pulse, an electric vehicle (EV) charging company, revealed its plans to build a Gigahub bp pulse network, which will start from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The company explains that the bp pulse Gigahub is a series of large EV fast charging hubs designed to serve ride-hailing and taxi fleets near US airports and locations across the country in high demand.

The construction of the Gigahub bp pulse was undertaken in collaboration with Hertz, and was partially funded by a grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC) of US$2 million.

“More and more ride-hail and taxi fleets are making bold commitments to electrify. To do so successfully, they will need access to reliable EV charging,” said Vic Shao, president of bp pulse’s fleet division, based on an announcement shared on Twitter.

According to Shao, the Gigahub bp pulse network will provide a convenient and cost-effective charging experience for drivers at airports across the country.

Following Shao’s statement, Jeff Nieman, Senior Vice President of Operations Initiatives at Hertz said that their goal is to give Hertz customers access to a nationwide charger network that makes the electric vehicle rental experience comfortable and seamless.

“Richdrivers are critical to the mobility landscape and more than 25,000 Uber drivers have rented EVs through Hertz to date,” he added.

Nieman also stated that this is just the beginning. The development of the Gigahub network is part of bp pulse’s commitment to making the adoption of electric transportation simple, reliable and cost-effective.

Globally, bp pulse aims to expand its charger network to 100,000 by 2030.

Recently, bp pulse and Hertz announced a memorandum of understanding to build charging infrastructure at Hertz locations throughout North America.
