Recently, the BMW Group made an innovation for the operating system for their newest cars. The OS, which is named Andorid Automotive OS, is present as the latest OS device for the latest BMW cars starting in 2023. This OS will later be integrated with the system and some of their latest car settings.

As reported by AutomotiveWorld on Thursday (30/6/2022), BMW Group’s Senior Vice-President Connected Company and Development Technical Operation, Stephan Durach confirmed the presence of the technology at the Automobil-Electronic Congress event in Ludwigsburg. He said that this technology would integrate the best aspects of the automotive and technology world.

“We want to create a technology that will make it easier to use a car system that can be used with modern software technology from Android. We are currently doing internal development so that later this OS can provide extraordinary results and is expected to provide a different experience using technology than usual,” said Durach.

He also said that this OS platform will allow users to configure usage individually as needed. This means that this operating system will be further expanded and more flexible to use and provide a much more pleasant display of vehicle settings than before.

He also mentioned that consumers will later get an unusual and unique digital experience with a display like a smartphone. He also said that the Andorid Automotive OS from BMW will be equipped with several applications from Google such as Google MPas, Google Assistant, as well as several application support from third parties.

Before BMW, several world automotive manufacturers have also used this Android Automotive OS such as GM, Polestar, and Volvo. With the presence of the OS in BMW cars, it is hoped that it will be a plus for consumers in having the latest BMW products in the future.
