BMW has launched the 2026 iX1, its all-electric compact sport utility vehicle, in China, introducing updated equipment levels while retaining the model’s existing design and powertrain options, the automaker said.

The refreshed iX1 went on sale on Jan. 21 in four trim levels, with official guide prices ranging from 228,000 yuan ($31,700) to 268,000 yuan. As an annual update, the model maintains BMW’s current design language, with changes focused primarily on in-car technology and standard features.

Externally, the iX1 continues to feature BMW’s closed-off kidney grille with diamond-pattern detailing and chrome surrounds. The compact SUV retains smooth body lines, semi-retractable door handles and multiple wheel designs, while L-shaped taillights and bumper trim elements carry over at the rear. BMW said the X Line and M Sport styling packages remain available, along with exterior colors including Skyscraper Grey and Starry Blue.

The five-seat iX1 measures 4,616 mm in length, 1,845 mm in width and 1,641 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,802 mm. Inside, the cabin features a dual-screen layout combining a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch central display running BMW’s iDrive 9 operating system.

Equipment updates are the main focus of the 2026 refresh. BMW said 5G connectivity is now standard across the lineup, enhancing data speeds and in-car services. Driver assistance features offered as standard include front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, lane-keeping assist, lane-change assist and a reversing assistant.

Two electric powertrain options are available. The eDrive25L variant uses a front-mounted single motor producing 204 horsepower (150 kW) and 250 Nm of torque, with a CLTC-rated driving range of 510 km. The xDrive30L version features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup delivering a combined 313 horsepower (230 kW) and 494 Nm, with a CLTC range of 450 km. Both variants are powered by a 66.5 kWh ternary lithium battery.
