Blink Charging said on Monday it has installed eight 120-kilowatt DC fast chargers at the newly developed Power Up Plaza in Chicago’s West Garfield Park, expanding charging access in a neighborhood that previously had limited options for electric vehicle (EV) drivers.

The chargers, unveiled at a September 26 opening ceremony, were developed through a collaboration between Blink and Power Up Plaza. The project, partly funded by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, is positioned near the United Center and Cook County Hospital with direct interstate access, making it a strategic location for both commuters and local residents.

“We are excited that this impactful installation has come to life,” Blink President and CEO Mike Battaglia said. “The site reflects our BlinkForward initiative to expand DC fast chargers in key locations while also advancing Power Up Plaza’s mission to serve its EV driver community.”

Justin Clemons, owner of Power Up Plaza, said the installation would serve as both a convenience for drivers and a broader community investment. “Having Blink’s DC fast chargers at Power Up Plaza brings needed EV infrastructure to the area for the convenience of local EV drivers and it represents an important investment in the future for the community,” he said.
