Like other manufacturers, Audi has just issued a report on their vehicle sales last year. In 2021, overall, Audi has sold 81,894 electric vehicles, a growth of 57.5 percent compared to 2020. Electric vehicles accounted for 4.9 percent of Audi’s overall sales in 2021. In 2021 Audi posted total sales for all vehicle types of 1,680,512 vehicles (down 0.7% year-over-year). The decline in Audi’s total sales was caused by a global shortage of semiconductors that affected the automotive industry. Local Motors itself has not confirmed with an official announcement for this news. Local Motors’ initial assumption that it stopped operating was due to a lack of capital.
