Polestar Meets Global Sales Target of 29,000 Electric Vehicles by 2021, increase 185% year on year

In 2021 sales of Polestar’s premium electric vehicles rose 185% compared to the previous year. Polestar’s total deliveries of electric vehicles in 2021 will be 29,000. This amount has met their sales target and supports a significant growth target in the coming years.

Polesatar has a presence in 19 countries. Significantly increased from the previous year which was only present in 10 countries. In the first half of 2022, Polestar plans to enter the electric vehicle market in Spain, Portugal and Ireland. In addition, Polestar also plans to enter the Middle East market with the presence of the UAE, Kuwait and Israel. By the end of 2023, Polestar targets to have a presence in 30 countries.

Polestar itself has produced two electric vehicles. The Polestar 1 is a hybrid vehicle built between 2019 and 2021. The second model is the Polestar 2 which is the company’s first fully electric car. The Polestar 2 comes in three variants having a standard and long range battery combination of 78 kWh, and dual and single motor powertrains with up to 300 kW / 408 hp and 660 N m.

In 2021, Polestar has announced that it will launch three new cars in the next three years. The Polestar 3, a premium electric performance SUV, will be launched in 2022. The Polestar 3 is the first Polestar line built in the US. The Polestar 3 will benefit from advanced technologies from Luminar, Nvidia and Zenseact that will provide the most advanced autonomous driving features.
